The University of Kiel

The KFS studies the full range of behavior pattern in extreme situations. Research projects on behavior in fires, earthquakes, blizzards, heavy storms and technological, so called "man-made" disasters have been carried out. Furthermore, the KFS disposes of specialized facilities, e.g. audio-, video- and multimedia equipment, a very fine "disaster"- library and documentation center, and a broad variety of materials for training and education. Moreover, the KFS is publishing the "KFS-Publikationen", a non- periodical forum of current results and scholarly discussions.

Centre for Ecology and Hydrology

CEH is the UK's Centre of Excellence for research in the land and freshwater environmental sciences. Our research is aimed at improving understanding both of the environment as we see it today and the natural processes that underlie the Earth's support systems - for example climate & water resources. We are particularly interested in the impacts of human activity on natural environments. We aim to generate workable solutions to today's pressing environmental problems.
