User Guide
The academic database is designed in such a way that a user is either able to search by means of a basic search field, or by searching more specifically by means of the advanced search page.
Basic Search
This page is shown when clicking on the quick search button on the navigation bar. Type in a random keyword of interest in the search bar and click on the search button. In order to have a maximum output it is recommended to make use of English keywords. Although, it is also possible to type in keywords in the languages German, Dutch and Danish. The drawback here is that your search will be limited to the documents that were originally written in these language, while there is a possibility to conduct a multi language search for documents by using English keywords.
Advanced Search
When preferring to search more specifically and find the desired documents more effectively, there is a possibility to make use of the advanced search link. From here you will be directed to a page where it is possible to narrow down your search by selecting characteristics within multiple categories. Firstly, analogous to the shackles concept used by Chain of Safety, you will be able to search within the different shackles of the safety chain (Proaction, Prevention, Preparation, Response & Recovery). Furthermore, it will be possible to select one of the countries involved in the project in order to search within the collection of documents they contributed to this database. Finally, there is also a possibility to search by means of the publication year of an article.Besides, there is also the option of choosing between only producing documents in the output page containing all of the specified characteristics (AND) or producing every document containing one or more of the specified characteristics (OR).
Output Page
When having reached the output page you have the possibility to directly access the full document or to access the overview page containing detailed information on the document. Furthermore a link to both the basis search page and the advanced search page is provided.
Overview Page
This page contains an overview of the document details. The title, author, publication year, related shackles and country of publication are provided to get a quick overview of the document and its background. Furthermore, an English summary of the full text is given and were available a summary in the original language of the full text. Moreover, it is also possible to access the full text and to click back to the output page.
